2007 Grantsburg Honkers Youth Baseball Training Camp Announced!
Mark down Saturday, April 28th as the start of baseball season in Grantsburg, and join us at Peper Park for an exciting camp led by some of Grantsburg's finest baseball players and coaches! ------------------ Camp Schedule Check-In: 9:00am group meeting Morning Session: Fundamental baseball skill development at various stations- hitting, fielding, batting, baserunning, and more Lunch: 12:00-12:45. Players can bring their own lunches or can purchase lunch from the concession stand near home plate of the varsity diamond Afternoon Session: Live play situations on the field, including games, challenges and contests. The Training Camp will conclude at 3:00pm. Equipment Needed: Players should bring a glove, cleats or tennis shoes, baseball pants, hat, water bottle, and anything else you need when you're taking the field. Bring a positive attitude and lots of great baseball energy...we'll see you at camp! ------------------ Registration Fees and Information The Grantsburg Honkers Youth Baseball Camp is open to boys currently in grades 3 through 8. The registration fee is $25 per player and must be paid in full at the time of registration. Camp registrations will be accepted until the camp is full. Approximately 50 youth will be able to participate in order to ensure an 8:1 instructor to camper ratio. Camp registration deadline is Thursday, April 19. All campers will receive a Honkers Training Camp T-shirt. Special Discount for multiple family members- Receive a $5 discount per player when two or more campers from the same family register. To register, stop by Community Bank of Grantsburg and fill out a registration form. You can also mail a completed registration form and fees to: Grantsburg Honkers For questions or more information, call Ted Gerber at 715.689.3429. ------------------ Camp Directors Ted Gerber founded the Grantsburg Honkers in 1999 and has played for and managed the team every season. He also was an assistant coach for the Grantsburg Pirates for 7 years. Ted played college baseball at the University of St. Thomas where he was a three year letter winner. In addition to being a member of last year's state runner-up squad, Ted also played for the Minnesota Class A state champions, St. Paul Highland Park in 1996. Pete Johnson has 14 years of coaching experience at the high school level. He has been the head coach of the Grantsburg Pirates for 9 years and has led the team to conference championships in 8 of those 9 seasons. Pete played shortstop for the Pirates and was a four-year letter winner. In addition, Pete still holds the all-time Pirate career home run record. Mike Trapp has been an assistant coach for the Grantsburg Pirates for the past three seasons. Mike played college baseball at Western Kentucky University where he lettered for each of his two years. He was drafted by the Kansas City Royals where he spent three years in their organization. In addition, current Honkers players and former Grantsburg baseball alumni will provide instruction at the camp. ------------------ The mission of the Honkers Youth Baseball Training Camp is to provide quality instruction that will give the youth baseball player skills to improve their game. |
